dbMotion and Jordan Hospital Team Up to Advance the Greater Plymouth Health Information Network
Jul 26th, 2012 | By admin | Category: Breaking NewsPITTSBURGH–(BUSINESS WIRE)–dbMotion, a provider of connected healthcare solutions, has been chosen by Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, Mass., to help the local medical community offer a single aggregated patient record to caregivers—functionality that is critical to the success of the Greater Plymouth Health Information Network (GPHIN), which serves residents throughout the South Shore and Cape Cod.
The Greater Plymouth Health Information Network (GPHIN) is comprised of Jordan Hospital, a 155-bed acute care hospital, along with approximately 140 affiliated physicians and independent ambulatory and outpatient physicians, clinics, laboratories, imaging center, pharmacies, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, assisted living communities, and related support organizations. In the initial phase of the relationship, the dbMotion™ Solution will provide semantic interoperability between Meditech 6.0, the acute electronic health record (EHR) used by the Jordan Hospital, and eClinicalWorks, the ambulatory system adopted by Jordan Hospital’s employed physicians. As implementation progresses, the platform will enable the GPHIN to extend interoperability to community physicians using other EHRs, including GE Centricity, Epic, McKesson and Athena.
“It is vital that all of the providers in the community have access to an aggregated patient record in order to deliver the highest quality of care possible,” says Donald Marks, MD, Chairman of the GPHIN Board of Governors. “That is no small feat in this region, where 90% of provider organizations have adopted some type of EHR. dbMotion will provide us the means to ensure access to comprehensive and harmonized data that caregivers can act upon at the point of care.”
dbMotion’s interoperability platform is designed to semantically organize health information captured and stored in disparate systems, and deliver it in an actionable format within any provider’s preferred workflow. Additionally, the solution’s powerful EHR Agent functionality alerts caregivers when additional information outside of their own system is available, allowing them to review and import select data relevant to the current episode of care.
Jim Albert, Chief Information Officer, Jordan Hospital notes that the selection of dbMotion will likewise help the medical community attain a second strategic objective: the success of the nonprofit Jordan Community Accountable Care Organization (ACO). Selected to participate in the Medicare Shared Savings program, the ACO consists of more than 100 physicians from Plymouth Bay Medical Associates, Jordan Physician Associates and specialty physicians from Jordan Hospital. Together, these coordinate the healthcare of more than 6,000 Medicare beneficiaries in Plymouth and Barnstable counties.
